Bisous Featured Designer . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Karen Desmet  Michigan, USA

A little bit about Karen:
First and foremost I am a mom to two wonderful children and a wife to a very patient and loving husband. I am also the owner of Art Declassified (www.artdeclassified.com). At Art Declassified, we design and manufacture rubber stamps for cardmakers, scrapbookers and altered artists (and anyone else you likes rubber stamps!).

We currently (and will always) reside in Michigan where we whine about the winters and complain when it gets too hot in the summer! My family and I enjoy traveling to Florida when it gets cold here and many evenings before the children go to bed, you will find us playing Guitar Hero!

How long have you been scrapbooking/crafting?
I received my first scrapbooking kit when my daughter was born in 2000. When I received it, I laughed. "When will I ever have time for this?" A few months went by and I started scrapbooking and learning about all the fun scrapbooking supplies. Although I received my first scrapbooking kit in 2000, I have been crafty all of my life. I have enjoyed playing with everything from beads to clay to puffy paint and these items have found their way onto shoes, clothes, papers, gifts, home decor, etc.

What made you start crafting?
I started getting involved in papercrafting in 2004 when I would create journals and albums and sell them at local craft fairs. In early 2005, I joined the design team of a large scrapbook manufacturer and everything has snowballed from there!

What do you like best about the PDQ papers?
I love the depth of the designs and the ease of the entire PDQ system.

What do you enjoy creating most?
I enjoy creating cards and altering or facelifting everyday items.

Do you have any hints or time saving tips you can pass along?
I just read a wonderful hint in regards to scrap paper....
If you are creating a layout and have cut into a larger piece of paper - leaving a scrap behind - take that scrap and immediately turn it into a card or a gift tag. Use the design concept from the layout to help with the design with the card. You already have your tools and supplies out, so why not utilize the scraps immediately. You will slowly build up a nice supply of cards and gift tags to use later on!
